Hundreds of people have fled to the bush in Pibor fearing clashes following the arrival of government troops after the appointment of a new governor of South Sudan’s proposed Boma state, a local chief said.
Ibrahim Mamayo told Radio Tamazuj that they fear fighting between SPLA generals allied to appointed governor Baba Medan and the former Cobra Faction loyal to David Yau Yau, who Salva Kiir dismissed from his position as chief administrator of Pibor.
Mamayo said a delegation was dispatched to Juba in order to discuss the problem with the country’s top leadership. The traditional leader said citizens have not rejected the newly appointed governor Baba Medan.
Mamayo said those in the bush are living in bad conditions.
