Former fighters of the David Yau Yau cobra faction in Jonglei and forces of Gen. Bapiny Monytuil formerly based in Unity State are being integrated into the armed forces.
The integration was ordered by the Commander in Chief of the army, President Salva Kiir Mayardit, early last month.

Reech Malual: “Speaking in an exclusive interview to Radio Miraya, Defence and Veterans Affairs Minister Lt. Gen. Kuol Manyang Juuk says screening of the former combatants is ongoing.”
Kuol Manyang Juuk: “…Other armed groups that are yet to be integrated into the SPLA. A team has been sent to screen them.”
Reech Malual: “The reintegration comes after the groups were offered an amnesty last year. In a related development defense minister Juuk called on all SPLA forces in war zones to protect vulnerable groups.”
Kuol Manyang Juuk: “….. Our soldiers are tasked with the responsibility of taking care of or safeguarding the children, the women, the unarmed civilians. That is the task and obligation of a soldier – defending his own people and the country. There is no child that shall be recruited into the army.”
Reech Malual: “Perpetrators are to face legal procedure for non-compliance with the minister’s directives, the Child Act, and the SPLA Act 2009. I am Reech Malual Radio Miraya news.”
