A woman was killed in an air strike on a nomadic encampment, southwest of Kaja, in East Jebel Marra today.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a resident of Kaja said that at 3:10 pm today, an Antonov of the Sudanese Air Force dropped three bombs on the setttlement, located southwest of Kaja. “Sarah Hamdan Saleh (70) was killed instantly.”
“The attack came after the Sudanese Air Force had conducted reconnaissance flights over vast areas in East Jebel Marra since seven o’clock this morning,” the source explained.
“The people here are convinced that the air force’s operation of today is to protect a government forces convoy of hundreds of fuel tankers that arrived in Tabit on Wednesday. The convoy’s destination is Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, but was stopped by heavy rainfall and floods. It started to move again this afternoon.”
