Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram militants have kidnapped around 100 men and boys from a remote village in northeastern Nigeria.

Witnesses say the gunmen attacked the village of Dorno Baga in Borno state on Sunday and killed several people before loading the men onto trucks and taking them away.

The witnesses spoke to journalists after fleeing their homes and making their way to the state capital, Maiduguri. Several expressed fear the men will be conscripted into fighting for Boko Haram.

The Islamist radical group has killed thousands of people in the past five years. It also kidnapped more than 200 girls from a school in Borno state in April.
