Two paramilitary rangers were killed and another was seriously injured when a bomb exploded behind a school in Yala province Tuesday evening.

The bomb, believed to weigh about 10 kilogrammes, was detonated when paramilitary rangers Thawee Faiphesat, Prakaisit Rakphan and Chatchai Lohithan were on patrol to check the area on the bank of a canal behind Samukkhi School in Ban Kato village of Pa Tae sub-district, Yaha district, at about 4.30pm.

Ranger Thawee was sent to Crown Prince Yaha Hospital and later referred to Yala Hospital. Authorities assumed that insurgents had planted the bomb near the canal and detonated it to keep the situation violent.
