Four border patrol policemen were wounded, two of them seriously, by a bomb explosion in Muang district of Pattani province on Tuesday morning, police said.
The four were members of the Border Patrol Police Company 4203 travelling on a pick-up truck to take over duty from a BPP team at a security checkpoint on a road to Pattani town.
When their pick-up truck stopped at ared light at the intersection of Highways 42 and 4018 in tambon Rusamilae in Muang district, a home-made bomb buried in the road median strip was detonated remotely. The attack occurred about 6am.
The explosion badly damaged the pick-up truck. Pol Sub-Lt Somjit Rattanapan and Pol Sr Sgt Maj Nantasak Phetkasem were slightly wounded. Seriously injured were Pol Sgt Pakphum Chanthornmetha and Pol L/Cpl Sithiporn Sophawong, who received head and body wounds. They were admitted to Pattani Hospital.
